Paul,
That catalogue of rust zones is really valuable, and highlights areas to watch for all of us, even where we think there's no trouble lurking. Absolutely rams home the need for additional corrosion protection.

That's some dedication to the XM there, Paul. A cracking job done and a very worthy effort to save such a rare model.

David.

As you say Paul, interesting how it's got so rotten without much damage to the jacking points. Of course you don't know if they have been damaged then fixed, but causing a weakness allowing water in.
Russ... REMEMBER: This has been over the course of the last TWO years... so .. it has hung around and taken time to do.

It has though, been an absolute pleasure! If she were a 2.1 TD or another more common varient then this work would NOT have happened.
Oh yes! Got too excited looking at the pictures!!!

It's looking good. Well done for saving it. :D
A little time spent on the cosmetics and it will look great. Plus a mandarin 24v is quite a rare thing... In my book. They all seem to be dark green or platinum.

I drove this car down at Brodies, but other things got in the way of a major resto project.

That was the other mandarin I was thinking off. So it's the same one. Ahhhhh. So that's what happened to it. ;)

Well to round this up. the car went on for mot last Thursday 10th of sep and passed with an advisory on a rusty pipe at the near side rear below passenger door.. Anyway friday 11th i had a looked.. Poked it and it gave out throwing lhm everywhere. Lucky i was at the yard. So quick fix and load up with chevrons items for people as the car was destind to come to little horwood 12th

With a last min change of plan.. The car has actually gone home to glasgow. And sucessfully drove the whole distance from anglesey to Glasgow! Without a hitch.
