My new(ish) XM

Post by eifion » Tue Oct 13, 2015 6:59 pm

About a month ago I became the owner of my 3rd XM. After two silver diesels it was time for a change so I now own W549PVC, a 2000 24v V6, which will be familiar to at least a couple of you. It's not perfect and is going to need some work done to it over the next few months, but it's a joy to drive and not too thirsty. It's noticeably more refined to drive than my 2.1, partly because it's keener to change up gears to keep the revs down.

I plan for it to be a keeper, unless something major goes wrong with it or unobtainable parts become an issue. Time will tell how realistic a plan that is. Minor faults to be fixed include a non-working sunroof and a passenger seat whose back tilts forward but not back. The seat problem appears to be just a duff switch so should be an easy fix.

Here it is:
