Well if it isn't green then the Doseur valve is okay. Might be residue if Paul oiled the brake linkage.
They are a nightmare that drainage channel, they always collect crud.

It's not green, if it's not raining tomorrow I'll take the scuttle off and have a look what's going on. I was worried I'd left some metal exposed, but it looks white...

Hi, been catching up as I've been busy and not here for a while. What exactly is the problem with the spoiler mount. One of the pillars on mine was cracked and the GRP (or whatever it is) badly water damaged. I ended up grinding out the bad internal material then rebonding the base, together with a couple of bolts with the heads removed to replace the original studs, using chopped strand matting and resin. It took a while to sand back to a noce profile but the finished repair looks good and has so far held up well.

It's completely give way on the passenger side, I've dolloped a big splodge of glue on the base and let it rest, I haven't touched it since.
I think I've read your posts about the repair, do the bolts undo from inside the tailgate? Next course of action will be some areldite, if that doesn't work I'll attempt to disassemble the spoiler from the tailgate and repair with fibreglass etc.

Incidentally both of the spoiler mounts on my other car are going the same way and will need repairing in the near future.

It's not just S1 spoilers that come adrift. Some 15 years ago our S2 spoiler was completely torn off by an over-enthusiastic carwash. Now notice that most decent carwashes clean the back end of cars with vertically-shafted whirling brushes - a much safer arrangement.

Yes ray they are simply bolted.. you need to remove the boot lid platic trim first and then through convenient holes in the boot pressing you can get the 4x 10mm bolts out..

I managed to access the nuts for mine by removing the access panels for the light bulbs - there's 2 each side, and there may have been some insulation stuff to shift, but I can't remember.

My repair has proved strong enough as it's been though a car wash several times since. I suspect that part of the problem may be people using the spoiler to open and close the tailgate.

Yep, gotta use those grab handles inside the boot lid to close it.

I'm forever telling people off for attempting to use the spoiler to lift the boot. Series 1s get it worse.

The best one is I had to ask a mechanic at a local garage to please not push one of my S2s by the spoiler (it had been recovered there with no drive due to a broken gear selection rod), and he looked at me like I had 2 heads. You would think (hope?!) that people who work on cars all day everyday would have some idea of how to properly treat them...

I came back to get it a few days later and the spoiler was covered in oily handprints, seems my earlier request was obviously well heeded....

Ciarán
