Thats rust for you, just when you think you have got it all out.............. :)

Looking better each day Paul. (Thats the car not you!!!!)

More good work Paul and the condition of the front jacking points looks almost as bad as my 1989 Poland car! With regards, Matthew T.

That corner section of the sill has a hole on mine. I need your expertise Paul!!!
It's been quite mangled by a careless tyre fitter. It's been welded, but really the whole lot needs cutting out and redone. The bottom of the wing I think has actually been welded to the car. :? This has not been done in my ownership....

Coming along though Paul. Great stuff. :)

I have a wing welded to the car here on Gandalf too, although currently what I can see of the metal behind it it's still solid at least.

Lucky! ...well not having any rust holes, having the wing welded to the sill sort of isn't..... They should be held in place with little clips.

I'm really pleased with the amount of effort Paul is putting into somebody else's car. Thanks Paul.

If your gonna do it it needs to be done to the best of ability.. I do my best I can.. its far from perfect but I think its adequately good and all patches are lump hammer tested to ensure strength before any sealing or painting is done

Ok, got half an hour with CEO this afternoon while there was blue skies and finished work..

so got under her to look at the nearside front out rigger section..

Sadly I NEED to report, if you are looking at a car, or yours is rotton and the FRONT Jacking plate is loose, then expect the worse!!

The Jacking plate is mounted onto the inside box section inside the cill area, on the side that "Forms the Door Lower front Frame" is the best way to describe it..

However, firstly, when originally fitted the plate is a heafty thicker piece of metal, and it is also NOT treated for rust... being thick they take time to rust away, however, if the even of the outrigger has rotted away and opened up, the rot then attacks the area around the jacking plate - this causes yet another issue, and you can expect the floor to be in a state of disintigration.

Inside Passenger Footwell:

The Rust "Patch" on the left is actually whats left of the jacking plate, the actuall Cill Wall has completely gone!

Note the screw driver pokeing in from under the car!

So, safe working, the seat and cill plastic trim needs to come away to get the carpet back to avoid any fire.

Slightly anxious now... No wonder she was so quick.... Half the underside is missing!
