Been to see UJA today, with a little help from citroenxm the problem of over-fuelling has been isolated, the amount of fuel being fed was shocking and I'm glad it didn't go into runaway mode on me. He's quite pleased with the underneath, only 1 area that needs attention. I'm sorry to say that this car is still low on my list of priorities but I am going to get it out of the elements and start preserving it.

What was the over-fueling issue?

The intercooler is FULL of fuel!!! And I mean full... took the inlet pipe off and as soon as I reved it fuel spewed out of the
the inlet pipe!!

So the over fueling device diaphram has been away for a while for the intercooler to be full.. so ive advised ray pump off refurd and she be good after its drained out!

Why remove the pump if just the boost diaphragm is split. Just fit a new diaphragm, or boost fueling device.

This is what you need.

Many Thanks for the link Dieselman, however it doesn't give me the option to purchase the kit? And if I did buy the kit I don't have the skills to fit it 😕

Ray, searching on the dp-200, ebay throws up this ...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DELPHI-DP200- ... Sw7NNUJXq7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You'd need to check it's the right one for your car - For example, this one is different in the last suffix letter and is for a perkins http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LUCAS-DELPHI- ... 1156367112" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

that leaves the puzzle of how to fit it! steve

The first one would be correct as the compensator is mounted horizontally, the second one is for a vertically mounted compensator, which is why I didn't give a link to that kit.

Darwen Diesels Ltd should be able to supply and fit a kit for you and being at Blackburn should be local enough for you.

Fitting the kit is easy, unscrew the compensator, strip down, fit the new seals and diaphragm, refit compensator with new seal.

Any local diesel specialist can do that.

As far as hunting goes, that sounds like air leakage, either into the fuel pipes, or possibly due to fluctuating pump supply due tot he leaking compensator. It could be due to another reason, not related to the pump at all, such as leaking valves, but if it starts from cold OK, then it's not worth worrying about.

Thanks Dieselman, it may be easy for you but then your name is Dieselman! The car never used to hunt, I'm hoping it was just because it hasn't been started in a while. I'll look into getting it done, maybe just so I can run the engine and keep the car moving safely. If the cost approaches what it would cost to refurb the pump I'll probably just go for a complete overhaul.
