That pipe is the coolant bleed pipe and it is correct to have the cap on it. The pipe should be clipped to a small bracket mounted on the rear corner of the cam box.

As said, there is no vacuum control for turbo boost, there is a small pipe feeds boost straight to the wastegate actuator. You have a Turbo gauge on the dashboar. The needle should point to the "b" under full boost at 3,000Rpm, which equates to 0.8 Bar.

The accelerator cable pulls the accelertor arm on the pump, which indirectly controls the amount of fuel that is injected. There is no throttling, a diesel engine is a constant air engine with torque being regulated by the amount of fuel only.

Wikipedia and YouTube a good place to start.
Also try to watch a recent programme on iPlayer - Timeshift: The Engine that Powers the World.

Haha amazing, didn't know there was a fellow xm owner so close to mine. I'd love to see one of your cars at some point if you are a local to have some sort of baseline for mine.

On other news I took the clutch cable out and set it back up, as citroenxm said the cable was the correct one, it's just that somehow it'd managed to be pulled about one clich or two too much. The biting point is a bit higher now, perhaps preloading the clutch lever a few mm I could add even more tension to it but it will do for now. I've also checked under they dash and the pedal stop is where the diagram shows, however, it still has quite a bit of free travel at the top where you can see that the pedal moves but the cable doesn't...may try and make a thicker stop for it.

I also found a cracked pipe that goes from the ns end of the inlet to some sort of actuator (big reduction), replaced it with a couple of bits of silocone pipe and a reduction, we'll see if it makes any difference! As it stands the boost pressure gauge goes up to the R.

Lol she does!! I've never had the patience to detail cars and in 24 hrs I've washed her like three times and bought stuff to feed the trim, wax, etc...may as well keep her happy ;)

Yes, the clutch bites higher now which makes the gear changes smoother. I can't wait to jack it up and have a play with the linkages now.

The capped pipe is an air bleeder from the thermostat house..
The pipe in front could be the throttle cable as it goes into the car just below/side the strut top mounting

The actual wastegate pressure sensor is on the otherside of the turbo facing the gearbox end..
