I shall do a simple update on this.. but we got the car all back together and running.. and it ran nicely..
While i was at it i was asked to look at the cruise control as it didnt work.. so i did some pin checks.. at the ecu and they checked ok. I powered the vac pump and it did work however gave no vaccum. So wheel arch liner out on passenger side and a look at the vac pipes.. they happened to be all intact and connected.. so.. i removed the vac pipe from the bellow and blew back down it and could hear air leakage.. so i decided to remove the vac assey from the car for a closer look..
Upon blowing i found air leaking from the dump valve.. however this is normal as it defaults to normally open for safty reasons.. applying 12v to it a few times actually got it working again and it appeared it had got a bit sticky from lack of use. The idea is you activate the cruise and thus it shuts and dump valve and builds the vaccum up.. hence the delay when you first activate the cruise...
So feeling confideant i put it all back together and went for a drive.. lo and behold the speedo stopped working again so there was no cruise again.. so as per other topic i got another speed sensor.. fitted it and went down the road and hey presto.. the cruise worked again! Jobs a guddun..
So once again another xm resurrected and returned to its owner.. and so.. onto the next.. which im not sure which way to go.
