3.0 V6-24 Project

My latest aquisition and project is a rescue mission that needs a bit of TLC.

It arrived this evening from the undergrowth at the back of a farmyard and at present has a minor issue in so much as it doesn't run. I've looked at aquiring one of these for while and fortunately, or otherwise, have a spares car with all good parts, though a diesel engine. If my now spares car hadn't died a sudden death, I wouldn't have been contemplating another project at all.

I need to thank member (Richard) Mabbs121 for initially saying it was available and (John) xmexclusive for going and putting some work in attempting to recover it from it's resting place. I went down to it last Saturday to continue the recovery process. I couldn't get it started so reverted to jacking it up and using wooden props to keep the body raised.

Today it was towed out by Richard and transported to me by a local carrier.

I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Gosh what a really exciting development Will and I just knew you would succumb in the end!! That beast is certainly worth saving and really is one of the few. I very much look forward to hearing further details and future updates. Hopefully it will be possible to assist with hard won knowledge that I have gained along the way! With regards, Matthew T.

It has just occurred to me that you are probably not planning to save the car Will, but rather to transfer the parts across 'a la Dean' to the Cobalt XM! I must say you are a brave man and there shall be some challenges ahead, but at least the trail has been partially blazed! With regards, Matthew T.

That actually looks really good, no wonky pipes, missing clips, bodged wiring or other telltale signs of a life of misery and abuse, it looks like it was very well cared for and then just parked up. Low miles too.

No. :o

The intention is to save the black beast...just like I did the Cobalt one.

The Mandarin car is going to donate parts to both this one and the Cobalt one.

It has plenty of issues, but as far as I can see, nothing terminal.

It has been off the road for 10 years, not sure how long it has been at the back of the farmyard...but it's been a while. Nothing works...door locks, parking brake, gear lever movement, engine...but it will...;)

Here we go for starters...

Which is which relay on the front of the ECU box? I haven't had chance to check the wiring colours yet.

Have you got a spare relay cover?

Fantastic Will!

Dean has built an immaculate V6 from an immaculate 2.0i, you're restoring a V6 from the 'scruffy but with potential' end of the scale, we'll have the full range of V6 builds and restorations soon

I particularly like the look of the 2.1 estate in the first photo.
The black V6 was equally shrouded on first visit.
