The gearbox on the car was rebuilt by CitroJim and Chris570, then he had problems with the engine I believe as it started pressurising the coolant.

Not sure of it's whereabouts now though.

If that is the car I think you are referring to (Mauritius blue ES9), I think that Chris changed the engine, fitting one from a Xantia I broke. He kept it for several years after, I never heard of him using it on the road. I don't remember hearing of it being sold either.

That MOT list sounds to me like a load of ....... "Slightly, corroded", "slightly deteriorated," "corroded but not seriously weakened".

Sounds like a description of practically any used car over 10 years old. Do they expect all cars to turn up looking like they have just left the showroom? I've just been reading about new changes coming into force in May with regards the MOT test.

As someone pointed out, the number accidents caused by car defects is small, (usually tyres I would suggest,) yet we pay a fortune to get our cars through the test every year.

On the other hand, the number of accidents caused by bad driving is huge, yet we get tested ourselves once a life time.

The MOT in my opinion, when introduced may have been a good idea but over the years it has just become one big money making scam and a scheme to which the authorities can point to and say "aren't we a safety conscious lot".

LG.
