Hello, here are a couple of photos, taken in end of May 2018 here in southern Finland. Recently, the snow has (even here) disappeared, now there is + 20C 8-)

Were under-trays only fitted to cars with diesel engines?

Yes I think that is correct Mike. I believe the idea was mainly to reduce noise from the diesel clatter! Regards, Matthew T.

Yes they did have a sound-deadening function, and are listed under parts as "Engine+gearbox sound proofing".
I just wondered whether, given Scandinavian icy blasts and salt-laden slush, whether one of these trays might provide good protection. They're effective at keeping road dust and mud off a lot of underside pipework, components and wiring.
I think I did know they were a diesel-only fitting, now NFP.
