Sorry I should have said I unplugged the connector and the EVs as you call them stopped working so they must be it

I suppose the only way to get the chewed through wires right would be to experiment with them once I can drive the car can you think of another way there should only be two that I don’t know positions of both for the body control

I am sorry to have picked this up late and I can confirm that the connector behind the offside front sphere is for the suspension electro-valve and the two yellow wires are power supply. Regards, Matthew T.

Let's see whether we can positively identify them, and what should connect to what.
Not a good idea to try any random connections, or sensors/ECU could be damaged.

Just dawned that we're dealing with early Hydractive here (Hydractive 1, as it's now known as).
Had to go back to one of your early posts to find your RP (build date) number, which is 5876. Please put this in your profile, and your signature!

That explains why we've been unable to find details of that 7-way black connector.

So, here's the HA1 circuit diagram:
.
9HY18_3.jpg
If you look at the 7N connector, on this circuit there are 6 ways used
- One yellow, for #433 EV (on HA1, there is only one EV, at the front, hydraulically linked to the rear as well)
and the others basically green
- #153 body movt sensor
- #670 brake pressure sensor
- #606 Auto/Sport switch illumination (NOT the dash Suspension light, which is #40)

Interesting that your 7N connector carries two large yellow cables.
These might either go to the ONE EV at the front (why two cables?), or - just wondering, whether you could have an EV at both front and back (the HA2 arrangement). HA2 was introduced at RP5929 (1Feb93), and your car was built 10Dec92. There can be some hybriddery as production crossovers occur, but I hadn't heard of this affecting the Hydractive systems.
Just have a look/listen to see whether you have a rear EV...

Layout for HA1 here:

EDIT: Highlighted areas of 7N connector on the circuit diagram now shown correctly.
EDIT: See posts immediately below:
- All 7 connections to 7N now accounted for.
- Doubt about 1 or 2 Electrovavles also addressed.

Chris, I think that you have slightly mis-read the diagram (and it is a bit confusing). Each connector has only one harness on each side, in this case SM and SB. The missing 2 ways of this connector are shown below the HA electrovalve. The connector way at the left goes to different harnesses and is irrelevant.

I did have a listen the other day when I was playing about and I’m sure I can hear an ev both front and back
My switch is the old type I’m sure (norm/sport is it) not auto/sport

I think the best opportunity I will have is when I’m round my friends doing the spheres I’m hesitant climbing under such a heavy car on our sloped driveway

Look under the bonnet at the suspension ECU and its markings.
If it is alloy and has a tapered back with very short stubby fins it will be marked H4xxxx. (Later two electrovalve system).
If it is a pressed steel box with parallel sides it will be marked H3. (Final early one electrovalve system).

Again that’s something I have looked at when I was playing with the engine ECU
It’s alloy and bolted to the engine ECU
The only thing I can renember about it is one of the numbers is 2001 with something before it so quite possably h42001
At the same time h3 rings a bell

Mike, John
Thanks for pointing out the errors and extra H3/H4 info.

Getting there.

Ok my ECU is H3 and it’s date is inline with car manufacture date as it’s 49 (month I assume) 92
