Working on all the bugs and damage, first few steps are wiring, cooling and body repair.
Some pics below will speak for themselves.

P.S. no more fancy car jack rocker plate.

You're not taking any chances there, are you...angle iron for the return flange...

That type of rot is pretty typical.

I'm envious of your car, good condition to start with, Mandarin and no sunroof.

You should source some original wheels, they suit the Series 1 better.

We can supply all your other parts...eventually.

I am a simple man, angle irons and ability to jack up my car anywhere I want are a must.
you should see my '82 Jaguar XJS, 16 gauge floor boards and angle irons inside rocker panels make it very rigid.

As you will have seen, the Xm cills (rocker panels) have a centre upright welded to the outer skin and the high strength A pillar inside the A pillar. That provides a lot of strength and rigidity, so ensure you copy that.

As you can see on the picture, I already tied 3mm plate from angle iron to the A pillar reinforcement, now I will be connecting angle iron to the middle plate inside the rocker, before I model the outer sill from 1.3mm sheet.
All simple tasks and very gratifying to see how the rot is being replaced with rock solid metalwork.
I need to tidy up all the sheet metal and prepare her for a re-spray ($2100) without roof and rear hatch.

Few more pics, final reinforcement for the angle iron and fabrication of the missing outer sill section.
Not the most beautiful welding I have done, but she is not my E-Type therefore strong and ugly will do.
