Read end finished ... adequately for me, its not perfect, but will have to do for now. No leaks. . Reae subframe will need to come off in the near future theres some floor work to do..

Onto the nearside bolt broken bolt .. .and it has taken all day.. but for some strange reason I achieved. I have NEVER EVER successfully drilled out a broken stud before. Getting the starting hole with the 2mm drill dead centre I think was the secret.

But we did it. I also split the abs plug connector .. checked the pins, cleaned them, re assembled with some grease as that was the other sensor giving tempry fault but reads perfectly in lexia live parameters

Each bolt for the wheel has been refitted with marine grease so hopefully there shouldn't be a problem again.

I also found the caliper bleed nipple was completely blocked. .. managed to clear it out and do a proper bleed with a nice flow.

Tomorrow off side cv boot needs reattaching apparently, and bleed drivers caliper .

Then its swap abs power relay board and sort the wings out

I always apply a smear of copper grease to wheel bolt threads (not the seat) and they never seize. The bolt can't come loose as it will be slightly tighter at specified torque, due to the lubricated threads. The seat is what provides the locking torque, not the thread...or it is supposed to.
Hearing bolts creaking when undoing is never good. You're only ever one creak away from a snapped bolt.

If you have alloy wheels also apply a smear to the hub and spigot ring to avoid a stuck on wheel. The grease also acts as a thermal conductor so the wheel conducts heat away from the bearing and brakes via the hub contact.

You're nearly there, this will soon be back on the road. Not too shabby for a 28 year old car with 270,000 miles on.

Cv boot was still in place on the joint but the zip ties id previously used weren't adequate enough so swapped it for a massive one which made it a lot tighter, cleaned the small bit of excess off and tidied the abs teeth up on the abs ring ..

I also swapped the abs power relay board too, that will have to be an overservation on that one..

Left now, wing bottoms .. started the nearside, and put some inner protection on to hopefully prevent future rot..

Have you welded some new metal into that wing bottom, if so, I can't see where.

It's quite extraordinary how paint makes bare steel last longer...especially when that part takes a real battering from road dirt being thrown up.

In your wheel bolt image the driveshaft castellated retainer and R clip are missing. I take it you are dealing with that.

I will be putting in replacement wing bottoms from behind the mould trim down..
That peace above is a full lower section from the mould trim down..
Heres the off side .. but I'm working on the nearside...

The above red painted one is the rear of the replacement peace where the mud collects etc.. I need to cut the two peaces, this part and the wing, then join them with some weld behind the mould trim ..

That will be a good repair, saves most of the replacement wing and less painting.

That's the last of the Mot repairs, isn't it?

That was my idea, as I dont want to be driving a multi coloured car. Its not something I'm a fan of. 🤣🤣

Yes .. mechically all done..

Sadly though.. later this year I think the car will benefit from rear subframe off job, I can look at under floor repairs, hopefully its just surface, but also inspect the pipes more closely maybe even see if I can get a roll of cuprel and replace them all and not have to worry about pipe rot again.

I noticed on the off side some subframe rot, which I'll need to address.. which they hadn't seen.. Lower outer section of the strut housing.. basicly the section to the outer side if the sphere..

But I need to finish the white V6 first .. and get it gone.

Does painting the brake pads improve the stopping power?
