Does painting the brake pads improves the stopping power?

I have it on good authority from a number of other forums that it does!

Orignal disliked section...

Ready to weld in..

Should I treat that sill section with the red oxide that I put on the back of the wing.. ?

Think it be really stupid not to wouldn't it..

You've answered your own question.
Be aware primer paints are porous, so don't provide long term protection without a top coat.

The cill section behind the wing actually turned out to be in very good order with good paint cover and not needing any further treatment ... however the out rigger behind the jacking plate will need attention this year.

Anyway. I'm done. Retest on Friday.

Seam seal applied.

Then I added some more.paint both sides...

All attached. But not without further issues. The lower wing 10mm bolt on the A pillar decided to snap.. .anyway, the captive nut came away so I improvised and used some galvanised torx bolt and nut and managed to get it to grip nicely (no photo evedence)

We also had another problem in the tab that the lower wing front screws too was missing from the car.. so I needed to add a small L shape bracket which im glad I had to, as it turned out I had a gap which has been letting the water in to rot the outrigger as mentioned above.

So filled that in with a small patch, sealed it and put the bracket over it and further sealed it..

Now we're all done and fixed up..

Have you bolted/clipped the bottom edge of the wing to the sill/jacking point.
Copious amounts of dirt find their way into that wing area even with that lower front fixing that was missing, but even more without.

Not but with the front bracket and lower A pillar bolt its fairly sturdy with no flapping. .. im considering leaving it so any crap can fall out .. although .. being aware of it now I guess it should be a regular check we should all do

Work on the front cill edge has left it slightly uneaten so I couldn't get it to clip. But will look at it again when I get to do the outrigger box work later next year.

After rebuilding the sill and jacking point, I bolt that lower edge with a 6mm bolt.

Flushing the scuttle out cleans silt out of that wing bottom.

Time to get it back on the road for another 270,000 miles.

I did think about a nut and bolt method but again making another hole through the lower wing apron I felt can encourage water into the separate wing layers and rust. However it can be coated with red led and paint around the hole cant it

Drill and tap the jacking point and a hole in the wing, paint, then fit and underseal and it wont rot.

Rustproofing and allowing water out, is the key to stopping rust.
