XM's excerpts to share

Post by citroeneer » Fri Aug 20, 2010 9:05 am

excerpts from our malaysian citroen forum on the xm

........Thank you for your kind comments about my postings- it's very nice to know someone reads
them even though they are so long!!! HAHAHAHA!!!

As for Alfa and BMW.... well I am a Citroen freak. But I am also an Alfa freak (the technical term is
"Alfisti" although vonnig would probably call me "Alfatso") and a Porsche freak as well as being a
classic car freak and I'm also very enthusiastic about Peugeots, Ferraris and Jaguars. There are
cars that turn me on..... I also like fast turbocharged Mitsubishis.

Why Citroen? Well..... for me the traditional Citroens have something that has been missing from
the auto market for almost 20 years now- character and distinction- loads of it. At the height of
Citroen's fame (just before the oil crisis of the mid 70s) it was THE car to have and driving a BMW
or Mercedes at that time was almost akin to declaring yourself a second class citizen. Even today,
park a well sorted CX, DS, XM, GS/A or (if you can find one) SM next to the most wildly
overpriced car out of Stuttgart or Munich and all eyes will be on the Citroen.

Add to that the truly wild innovations which make you wonder what the designers were smoking
(and whether they will let you have some) when they designed the car and the rock bottom prices
you can pick up one of these cars for and well.... it's easy to see why I've gone a lil crazy for em.

By contrast, my BMW was an E36 M3. A REAL M3 and not one built up from a 318. Went like
stink, looked like a yuppie's wet dream, went round corners like it was on rails but so perfect it
was completely soulless. Like Britney Spears. Great fun but not something I'd like to keep.... think
of it as a great one night stand or maybe a great fling but not something you'd want to spend the
rest of your natural with and you'll have the general idea- like Britney Spears.

As for Alfas they're great. About the last manufacturer still in business and churning out cars
with character but I'm completely out of garage space and besides I'm having too much fun with
the Enterprise and LHM at the moment to add a 159 to the collection. I think I pushed my folks
far enough already. Heh.

As for Audis.... just DON'T get me started man........... he' right....

Hi Steve ,
Yes, but if she was your 'SWMBO', could be a good source to fund your desire for more Green Blooded vehicles ;)

If so which would be most likely to break down, Britney or the Citroen?
