Off topic chat about anything you like. Doesn't have to be about XMs (though they will inevitibly come up!). You can even discuss non-Citroens :o in here!

Did Citroen ever make a split rear leather seat for the XM?

Yes but not for all models.
Answer varies according to type of leather and part of the seat.
It is the rear seats where the differences matter.
Black leather and Tan leather were always split for estates and one piece for cars.
Grey leather with seude panels was split and cars only.
The back seat bases can be interchanged but you need a couple of matching plastic trim covers if you are replacing split with one piece.
The seat backs are where the fun comes.
On an estate the rear seat back totals about 40mm wider than a car seat back. The side squabs are narrower to match.
Unfortunately the rear seat back locking points are also that 40mm different as well.
So if you particularly want a non standard back seat option make sure you get all the bits you need.
Then it is cut and weld time to make bits of it fit.

John

thanks for that! Having driven the 2.0 Sei with leather, I almost liked it - but need split rear seats in the hatch. Can I be bothered with the hassle of stripping the seats, welding and painting? Doubt it.

Thanks again

Hi Campbell

If you can lay your hands on the back seat leather and side bolsters from an Estate then the hinge fixing bolts positions are identical.
All you need to do is reposition the two nuts the rear seat back catch bolts screw into.
Then the boot side trim needs the hole for that bolt adjusted as well.
Much easier than rebuilding and reupholstering seat frames.

Hi Robert

Now you also know why I was very happy to swap car back seat leather for your estate bits.
