Why didn't they ??

Just finished replacing a couple of rear spheres on daughter's Xantia ---- very taken with the restraining metal loop that holds the cylinder pipe boss in place. Unless exceptionally tight (which one was, of course), no danger of twisting and damaging the pipe. Why, oh why, not a similar arrangement on the XM ?

Did experience with the XM lead to the Xantia getting such a part but it was never carried back over to the XM?
