Ongoing V5 saga

Post by Dieselman » Sun May 15, 2011 6:27 pm

One of my new purchases arrived without a V5 document. No problem I thought, just send in the appropriate form and Sorn document and receive a V5...I wish.

Having initially phoned DVLA to be told they wouldn't talk to me about whether the car has a scrapped marker on it, then finding out from a local motor factor that it does, all I have received from DVLA is a letter to fill in with more details before they will process the V5 request.
Having supplied the VIN number and date of acquisition first time round they have now asked for it again and the engine number, which on a 2.1 TD is almost impossible to see with the ancillaries on the engine.

I managed to check the engine number on the engine by using a lever to move the breather pipe and a torch to assist vision, and find the VIN, engine number and RP number all match the Service Citroen site, so we should be all good soon.

Until the car is registered I can't insure or MOT it as it doesn't exist.

For the MOT all it needs now is tyres, the low hydro pressure, wipers and a plate welding onto the wheelarch to footwell section.

How on earth have you ended up with 3 2.1's Will? i try to keep up with the comings and goings here but it seems one day you woke up and there were an extra two on the drive?

Would have thought this would be sorted by now though, i remember you posting about it before.
And whats wrong with the other new one, is that on the road?

I had no problems getting a V5 for the 2.5 thing that I bought with a scrapped marker. £25 and a bit of time later, the new V5 arrived. On the phone they were willing to discuss matters freely.

I sneezed and when I looked up someone had dumped a couple of non runners on the drive...one of which was peeing LHM from the doseur button, so they received £20 less than agreed..

The red one needs a fair bit of plating to the cills so I've moved my attentions to the blue one for now. Head gasket done, most jobs done, just needs tyres, a plate welding on and wipers....Oh, and a V5... :D

I've only been able to work on them the last two and a half weeks so progress has been slow.

TBH, I'm not quite sure what I'm doing. The red one will definitely go one way or another, either as a good, MOT'd runner, a non-MOT car or broken down for spares. The blue one will possibly stay with me as a useful runner, as it's a really nice drive.

Will,

Just a tip from a serial MOTer, stick the wheels from your good car onto the blue one for MOT and only buy tyres for it once it has a ticket!

I have a MOT tomorrow for the G plate Si, and one on Wednesday for the TD. Great fun.

I still think you have time to get Mrs DM convinced that she needs the Auto Xm to cruise about in :D :D !

I think from the two new cars I can generate enough decent tyres for a test pass. I'm more bothered about sorting the welding and FDV....and V5...??!!
