I am currently dismantling an XM but how do I deal with the Airconditioning system, I have never worked on these systems. Any tips would be welcome!

None of my cars have airco, should I keep the various parts or are they still available. Don't know much about this

Hi captainhaddock, evacuation of the system by a licensed aircon agent is mandatory. Component wise if an early R12 system then probably just dump, it's unlikely anyone would go to the lengths of resealing for r134.

So all these scrap cars with airco go to a licencsed airacon agent....now I know the aircon was flat when the car was still driving but what is flat...I hate these CFK's too even thought the system was 'modernised' with r 134..

Ahhh have a follow of my topic for dismantleing although i dont show you how too..
To get the air con unit out from inside the car though needs serious strip down. As the heater box with evaporator is the first thing to go into the car then the pedal box then the rest built all around it..
R134a on s2 cars is more enviromentally friendly but all systems should be vacuumed down into a recover container and delt with but does everyone do that.? Is the system/was the system working? Check it by pressing one of the valves near the compressor under the black caps..
Projects:(eventually if theres any bodywork left)

If the aircon was low on gas when the car was in use then it condenser is probably leaking anyway, but at least there is no gas to recover.
