XM Prices when new

I have the original invoice for my SED from Freeborn Garages Southampton dated 21.08.92. It shows the following:
Stock No: 2739 = £18343.70
Discount £2484.71
Tow Bar £212.76
Getronic Alarm £277.12
2 Rear No Plates £10.21
Total Accessories = £500.09

With tax, delivery and warranty included, the retail price worked out at exactly £21000.00

Small world, Rob . . . Ours was from Freeborn, Southampton, too - or S.E.Thomas, Godalming, to be precise. MD of Freeborn had a customer who simply bought "the best that Citroen could offer" each and every year, apparently. One year, he ducked out, and left the MD holding the baby, with 1000mi on the clock. Our luck.

That receipt for your old car is staggering Matthew!!

My dad bought his 1991 24v from a small dealer in Milnathort which is around half way between Edinburgh and Perth. His was a one owner car from new with 30k on it at the time and it was 3 years old. He paid less then £10k for it! Seeing that receipt for yours has blown me away!

So there were two 24v XM's in Scotland at the same time both owned by Doctors!

I completely agree David and it does seem a very big price to pay for a two year old car with over 40K. A former client of mine bought an early 24v from a dealer in London that had been sitting around for a while and got at least £10,000 discount, which seems to be the more usual tale! In todays money, 5.4 Million Yen is 33,443.87 GBP.

In November 1995 the GBP traded at about 156 yen, so at that time my XM had a price sticker equivalent to 34,615.384 GBP
