Yes, they're still being made in China, under the name 'Roewe' (from the Germanic pronunciation), and to avoid rights issues. All fairly hideous stuff.

In the late '70s we had two Peugeot bicycles, his and hers in fact. These were fair-to-middling, but not a patch on the Fred Dean hand-built racer I had as a teenager, on which I did a couple of thousand miles a year for a while, until the Vespa and Norton bug bit. All this was, of course, somewhere in the middle of the last century.

My French bikes are a Helyette, an AutoMoto and an Ideale invalid carriage. My brother has a lovely Peugeot path racer from around 1900, complete with 25mm pitch chain. It's a sod to ride slowly but goes lovely above 15mph.

As for exotica, I have a 50's Bates, a 70's Speedwell Titanium and the first numbered Kirk frame in the collection.

Would love to find a Citroen bicycle, but they're very rare as they seemed to only make them from the end of WW1 up to the mid 20's.

I believe Land Rover now own the rights to the Rover name to protect there own name. so hence The 'Wrongway' name used in China
It's all very messy, as what we know as Rover 75's are now MG's, along with some dodgy looking face lifts. They really have desecrated them all basically.
I still think JLR could still use the rover brand to design a range of very modern smaller cars. But no retro, purely modern and maybe quite aggressive looking. So where Rover prices ends, Jag cars starts. Any way that will never happen.

Meanwhzile, back at PSA, there seems something of a passing resemblance between the new Citroen Cactus and the LR Evoque, n'est pas?

The last real citroen that ran on LHM?? The last one with a truly smooth ride as IMHO the newer ones actually feel stiffer, possibly due to smaller sidewalls and overall setup.

Did you know that a Cactus can come with 3 cylinders, 200kg less than a C4, and a diesel offering 91mpg? Mon dieu!

Hello:
You might be interested in this write up of the Cactus at my pet blog:
http://driventowrite.com/2014/09/17/cit ... est-drive/
I´ve been visiting other forums to gently introduce the blog and it seems people are reluctant to leave their single-marque forums to visit a general purpose blog! The Jaguar XJ-40 people stumbled upon us and were livid the car got a less than stellar write-up. I have renamed the club the Jaguar XJ-40 3.2 V6 bordeaux metallic over tan club as they seem very focused indeed. To say the least! We made them spill their gin and tonics.
