Off topic chat about anything you like. Doesn't have to be about XMs (though they will inevitibly come up!). You can even discuss non-Citroens :o in here!

I have a replacement mirror for the drivers side.

Off to play on the car tomorrow. I will try giving it a good going over with some Autosol and then degrease and coat with C4

Before and after pictures will be provided!

Results of my labours:

Before

After metal polish (MAAS polish rather than AutoSol)

Cleaned off with alcohol

Treated with C4 (yes the bottle is that small!)

Comparison with trim just cleaned with alcohol and then treated with C4.

Conclusion the C4 is really good but shifting the top layer of degraded plastic off with a mild abrasive really makes a difference! Looks like I shall be re-doing my scuttle trim and N/s mirror.

This technique seems good to me. I suspect that any trim shine will give good results after the top layer has been scrubbed off. The benefit of the C4 seems to be it's longevity

Hope this helps.

So would T-cut have a similar effect?

Yes! Any mild abrasive compound will do. T Cut is probably the cheapest.

Im not sure Neil. metal polish is more abrasive than T cut is.....Give it a go and post up your findings ;)

My hunch is it wont be as easy to achieve such a quick result...if not Autosol is only cheap...its old school isnt it ;)
