Can somebody explain?

How is it that the wings seem to be joined to a sill? and the sill seems to be too short? is it part of a body kit? Or not XM at all?

Those are not sills they are body kit or possibly cill protectors..

Or rot encourage'rs...

They are side skirts from a body kit, possibly oe. They were usually bonded to the car and screwed, its likely the bond is too strong to break without risk of damage or they were laid out like that for the photographs.
Can't be many about now, I like them for the fact they tidy up the fill sillohet but they are too bulky IMO and you don't get to see the structural sills flare out to the wheel arches which is rather attractive.

If you enlarge the right hand one you will see the body kit has lifted a bit proud of the standard wing bottom section.
