Re: Engine in the back?
Not done anything like that with the XM's yet, but did collect a 1.9td engine and gearbox from a Synergie in the BX estate once, the GS rear subframe in the back of the BX14 was more awkward than anything else, but I needed it after I broke the rear subframe on the GS estate when it was loaded up to half way up the windows from the back of the front seats back with magazines! Mind you, it did mean that it was fine carrying a 3ft cast iron sheet metal guillotene after I changed the sub frame. I've also had 3 bikes and a 2ft lathe in the back of a Dyane, although I had to remove the rear seat to do it, and once the wheels were removed, I got a bicycle, a tricycle, 3 people (including me) and 4 days worth of gear in a 2CV. Scariest though were 2 Wartburg engines in the back of a Reliant Rialto, which made the steering REALLY floaty!
