Unfortunally nothing has been cheaper or will look cheap when you see this:

L reg Xantia, SX TD, bought for 80 quid 179k on clock, fitted windscreen, then passed every 5 MOT's since first time, oil and filter changes, now on 235k... I use every day!

All Ive done? Cam belt, spheres, rear arm bearings... hydraulic pump, LHM change....

Unfortunally, nothing has beaten her!

And im serious, £80 quid!

Early S1 cars up to L/M reg are the BEST to have Also for economy reasons! Later cars are less economical, ealry cars can manage a 45mpg !! Laters cars aren't as good.. possibly due to 'cats' and more weight.. and stupid EGR system

Paul
I'd agree with the statement about fuel consumption - I can get 45 from my M 2.1 SX on the commute to work but was hard pressed to get 40mpg out of the R 2.1TD VSX with Epic this morning!

Will have to take the green car on a long run soon but want to bed it in on the daily commute for a few weeks to get any niggles out of it.

Give it a really good workout up some steep hills to burn off any bore glaze and reseat the rings properly.

I do like yours, the perfect car , well for me anyway !!

Paul you did well with the Xantee at that price,,

well i suppose it's over to the BX forum now, need to pick a few brains ;)

Car is all ok , but it does have a few loud knocking noises and banging about on the front end for that matter, it's al main dealer serviced up to 87k, when cam belt was done, it's showing 99k now, a must is two new shperes for the back end , nice a soft on the front, but need to get the front noises sorted,

Off to introduce myself, and pick some brains..

Heavy knocking will be the front anti-roll bar links worn out.

Paul, that's fighting talk!

How about x2 N plate TD Xant SX estates in full gwo for £100 apiece.
A S1 Activa with FCSH one family owned - FREE or another one for £50.
Then there's a very healthy running, recent clutch, no rust S2 Cx GTi Turbo1
- FREE (well, a nice bottle of plonk) and it came with a spare set of rustfreee
doors added into the deal for nowt too. There are plenty more the same;
I try not to pay much for cars if I can help it and am never disappointed and
rarely have issues/big jobs to get them running as reliable daily machines.
