understeer could be tamed, drop down one more gear than normal, use teh clutch to control the wight tranfer to the front wheels, and it would almost oversteer.. diffuclt to expalin but it does work!
no, not in an Auto
Yes the rear wiper came on in reverse which was nice, you know im sure it was on a J plate but i have no pictures of the old girl which is a real shame and my memory is bad, i also cant remember if the dash had the bulb tell tale, i know it had grey leather and the Coolant resovoir exploded on the M275 about two weeks after i got it, there was a rather impressive steam cloud that apeared whilst conducting speed tests

, very reliable though other than that.

The 800 is not to be confused with a legend.. the legend does not fall apart for one thing! But the 800 was one of the first to use progressive rate springs, and the damping is very difffernt, An XX 2.7 Vitesse 800 driven by Tony Pond was the first car toever lap the IOM TT course at an average speed of over 100, the only alterations form the standard car were slick racing tyres and an exhaust! the video of it is here:

Amazing that!! Its only NOW with French stuff from around 04 onwards do that, and only when the front wipers are on first...
My dads 206 SW 2004, does a single sweep when front wipers are on, on so does my Partners 05 Ren Clio ....

Indeed Paul, we all like to poke fun at failed Rover, haha rusty Rovers and all that but to be fair they have done some stuff in their time, hydrogas for one and the Powertrain K16 Engine for another.
When i had my last 216 bubble my brother was ribbing me over it so we had a drag and my 216 Rover destroyed his Audi Coupe 2L twim cam

, he tends to keep rather tight lipped about Rover now.
Oh and parts are cheap and easy to find, very very cheap, and very , very easy to find
