You could try to read in the VHS data directly to your PC. I did that a few years ago with a lot of video 8 tapes to record to DVD.

The Sotec laptop I used then had analog input/output ports, so easy to connect with a VHS player. My current Onkyo/Sotec does not have those ports, but I could use an analog to USB cable.

Now you got me. I think I used VirtualDub at the time. but have a look here:
http://www.makeuseof.com/answers/free-s ... vhs-tapes/
I now often use AVS, which may not be free, but somehow, somewhere I got it free . . . or did I? And desktops? Stopped using those long ago. Too bulky.
Oh, of course you need a burner to create your DVDs. If your PC does not have one, get an external one. But now we are treading on a subject other members are experts in

The other film mentioned by Russ and Paul certainly is worth a look and I also have a VHS copy! Hopefully Paul may be able to upload as discussed. Thank you Jan for confirming the original is German market, which I should have worked out if the sound had been on! Regards, Matthew T.

Hi guys, I would love to copy mine to DVD. There are companies that'll do it for you, but I just don't want to incase it is ruined or lost. The Videos are quite hard to find to replacement would be difficult.
Paul, I actually think they might have filmed it at Mira. They have all the test tracks ect there. And I think in the final last shot of the car driving up the hill, is possibly the Alpine track on the test route. It would make perfect sense as that's where they test alot of prototype cars, and it is very secure so it could be done in secret. Even today, you have to hand in your mobile phones and be searched for cameras ect.
.
Big question though, What model XM was it and does it still exist. I think it actually might be the one used in one of the early brouchures...the car of the year one I think.
