Re: What to buy? 12v or 24v?
12v more common so repairing may be a little easyer.
24v engines are fine and just as reliable as the 12v BUT do MAKE SURE that the engine has been Citroen Aproved Modifed! They needed a cylinder head modification to solve an issue with the cam shafts eating into the valves etc.
Citroen recalled the car and fitted them with Ceramic followers which solved the problem. The issue would occure with less then 50kms on the clock. If the car has 100kms on the clock or more then its very likely to have been done.
Some parts on the 24v are also unique. The front strut feed pipes are unique to them due to the relocated centre sphere at the front rather then the rear where all others are.
However this is small.. but be sure you can get some of the unique parts.
The biggest concern I have put above, if you can find out for sure if the cylinder heads have been modified then the 24v is NO Less reliable then the 12v, manual only, and make a wonderfull noise and go rather well !!

Re: What to buy? 12v or 24v?
at 154kms the engine will be well sorted!!!
The 24v is a Cable Clutch operation, where the 2.5 is a Hydraulic SEALED unit clutch. NOT the same curcuit as the suspension etc.
For the milage's and price comparison, GET the 24v, get a head test and see if the gaskets have gone. The 24v should be a better investment if its ANYTHING like the UK over there, they are much rarer, and possible be the most valuble in the future if thats your thoughts at all.

Re: What to buy? 12v or 24v?
Parts are probably much more difficult to come by for the 24v than the 12v although i would imagine both are fairly rare now to be honest. For what its worth my choice would be the 12v if its being used a lot.

Re: What to buy? 12v or 24v?
Despite what Ive said above, if I had to choose between a 12 or 24.. I COULDN'T. I also DO have both but my 12v with auto box is on LPG so was very affordable to run in the UK when she was on the road.
I did 40k in it.. and enjoyed EVERY second. But on because she was on LPG.

Parts supply is OK if you buy them from DeLorean apparently..

Honestly 24v is not really in good shape (body parts) but it is a lot cheaper. there are the links of the carscitroenxm wrote:at 154kms the engine will be well sorted!!!

12v only though. DElorean didn;t get the later last incarnation of the 12v per bank heads. Only the 6v per bank heads..CitroJim wrote:Parts supply is OK if you buy them from DeLorean apparently..
But I beleve the Delorean parts are completely compatible - as it is the same engine at the end of the day.

Re: What to buy? 12v or 24v?
The 24v looks a bit chav'd, which is ok considering the money but it looks badly chav'd and well worn, the 2.5 on the other hand looks completely original, very clean tidy and well looked after.
Do you have a link to the 12v? just being nosey really

there is no link to 12v but it is in good shape. I know the previous owner of it. I will ask for it's pictures.
