Re: Declaring SORN
A quick read through suggests that you will be able to pay monthly, six monthly or yearly.
Before you jump for joy at the idea of a months road tax to move a SORN car check detail and what is not said.
MOT still required? - Will valid MOT and the car insurance be checked before each MONTHLY PAYMENT is taken?
Note they also mention DIRECT DEBIT payments, is this an extra option or their intended method for us?
No mention either of extra premium charges for monthly and six monthly.
Fast approaching implementation now with little real detail.
I fear the worst.
If it is anything like MID (6 mths and letters from DVLA before my insurance finally put up the listings - so much for list in 5 days).

Re: Declaring SORN
It really is frustrating the barriers this capitalist government is putting in the way of capitalism ie trade in old and interesting motor vehicles.
Please note: I am not politically minded, I do not wish to offend anyone, but after a lifetime of working in schools I have a finely developed sense of irony.
On another note, it is my understanding that on just about all motor policies today the third party cover for driving someone else's car is only operative if that car is insured elsewhere. This means if I want to test drive Jim's car (which is a possibility) I would have to break the law to do so. And he would have to break the law to take me out in it.

Re: Declaring SORN
Well luckily in this case Rob the car is currently living at the end of a long private road so a road test is possibleragger wrote: This means if I want to test drive Jim's car (which is a possibility) I would have to break the law to do so. And he would have to break the law to take me out in it.

I take your point though... Just not thought through for the private buyer but as usual the dealers are OK as they have trade plates..

I don't understand that comment, nothing has changed.ragger wrote:It really is frustrating the barriers this capitalist government is putting in the way of capitalism ie trade in old and interesting motor vehicles.
That has always been the case.ragger wrote: On another note, it is my understanding that on just about all motor policies today the third party cover for driving someone else's car is only operative if that car is insured elsewhere.
