I'm ok that people have an opinon, as long as it's justified and not just a rant.

Some Mercs have been pretty shocking. My old 300td had bits and pieces, but overall was a great car. it's currently resting until April, but did another 7,000 miles since passing it on April last year.

What model is it you have Will?

Ciarán
E class Mercs are generally very good cars, C class are more compromised.

My last one was a W210, E class 300TD. Fantastic car. They do suffer with body corrosion.

This one is a W204 C-Coupe. At first I didn't like it much, but it's grown on me. I've done 16,000 miles since April 2014 and it hasn't missed a beat.

Always liked the E class mercs, very purposfull solid things, drive well. Mercs have always tempted me but I've never made the purchase, one day I will, pioneering company making solid offerings with a distinct identity carried on through the various models and they support their older models or so I believe.

That W210 is lovely Will, a mate had a navy one of those, was a petrol though, 2.9 or something I think?
Lovely car but as you say, body was rusting to bits, wheel arches, boot lid, door bottoms, around lights etc. It drove really really nicely though, to the point where I contemplated one despite the bodywork issues.

I've not been in a C class coupe to date, yours is a nice looking example!
I was going to say how do you find it for space, but that's really not what a car like that is about is it, and you always have the XMs for that kind of thing!

They do indeed support their old models Dean, you can still get parts for 50s and 60s Mercs with ease and I mean mainstream models not just the typical classics, just try that with any Citroen that's not a DS or 2CV!

W126 S class and W123 T would be my choice of Benz ... W210 apeal for cheapness, but there would be no care and would also be only the 3rd car I would ever of owned that would rust before me eyes ...

Ive otherwise never had a car that has ever outer Shell Rusted on me before! Other then my first car, 1985 fiat Uno..

Germans reknown for "Historic" Car support from dealers, though at a price, where the French Dont car for 10 years or older, after 10 years of production. Though the DS lived in production for 20 years

Space is fine for the driver as Mercedes fit extra long seat runners, but if you want a ride in the back, I'll have to cut your legs off...

This one has fold down rear seats, so the boot is fine, as large as an XM boot anyway.

And no sunroof... ;)

Not with those lovely seats and matching matts, you would never get the blood out of the stitching.

How do you keep those mats so immaculate Will, I presume you don't have young kids?

I think that was the day I bought it...

I've dropped some black rubber mats over them to keep them nice. Mats over mats is what you need... ;)
