Not sure about the comment... lucky its was an xm ... id be more inclined to say shame it was an xm really..

The comment must refer to the safety of the car: thanks to it being an XM, and luckily for them, the passengers walked away from the accident. I knew an XM that had crashed near 200 kmh on the Autobahn, first with an artic, then with the guard rail. Similarly, they walked away from it. Actually, although insurance-wise it was probably a write-off, the car was rebuilt. It wouldn't be now, of course, but it was a young and expensive car back then.
