Be prepared though, the 2.1 with auto box is quite sllloooowwww... the manua box makes all the difference... don get me wrong, they are still beautifull cruisers, and rev lower then manuals in top, but no ball of fire.. you have to have the manual for that...

Alas I must confirm this. I love my XM, but at times it can be a bit of a slug. I keep thinking of turning up the boost, but don't want to risk the (quite possibly original) head gasket...

Great cruiser though, and very relaxed. Wouldn't swap it

I have had over the years a mk1 2.1 td manual and a mk1 2.1 auto and my present car is a mk2 auto all hatch models and I prefer the auto.
It will return fantastic mpg as is well known and the auto box although a lot of people give them stick,they are smooth an suite the car perfectly.
I wouldn't say my car is slow.I am quite often first way from the lights ,anyhow how many speeding fines do you want.
Xm td auto's are a brilliant creation,keep up the search and good luck hope you find a good one.

In Time one will come along, got the BX at mo as my daily driver, (quite pleasent ), first one iv'e had , nice car,

I Just gunna wait till a realy nice on come along that matches the condition of my old XM !

For the mean time, i will just have to do my runs to Great Yarmouth, in the company Zaferia, YUCK !, god i hate Vauxhall's
