The longer the private road, the more the potential cost of it's upkeep out of your pocket!?

You make me so jealous posting up pictures like that Andrew :x

Good job I'll be in Aberystwyth on Friday :D I'll be, whatever the weather, running up and down the beach and gulping in all that lovely sea air :D

The problem is, every time I journey out that way I don't want to come back. Gloom descends the moment I cross the border back into England and no longer see 'ARAF' written on the road. I can't explain it but in the few short yards between England and Wales the atmosphere seems to change totally. I feel it every time and so does Robyn...

The temptation to just jack everything in here and emigrate to an isolated part of Mid Wales near the coast is getting to be irresistible...

That noticeable change is actually the miraculous cessation
of rain as you hit the border! It's uncanny, I always know
when I'm nearing home!

But of course in the gaps on the days in between this natural cleansing,
boy is it fantastic here in the lush wilds in the back of beyond and better
still for never being more than 10 minutes from empty open country and
beaches. I try moving away but the draw back is too strong. I'd go back
up to Northumberland but it's just too damned cold now I've become a
soft southerner.

The downside is being too far away from all these fabulous temptations that
appear on the net through the forum, eBay etc where being centrally located
you can be there in short thrift and back home again before I've crossed the
border and there's no ransom payment due to continue driving home!

<edit x2 - damned predictive text!>

I was surprised to hear you're from Northumberland originally Andrew.

I feel exactly the same about my place of birth and upbringing - Somerset. I could never go back there to live and even though I still frequently visit there is no desire at all to stay.

I've been here where I am now for 37 years and in all honesty I've never truly settled and called it home despite my kids being born and raised here. Well, strictly Robyn was born in Australia but most of her life has been spent here...

What was spooky was a session a few weeks ago with a Psychologist. I was asked to picture in my mind a place I was truly happy and safe as a child. I pictured a particular beach in Somerset and that image came very easily. She then asked me to picture myself in a safe and happy place sometime in the future. No word of a lie this: instantly I pictured myself running along the beach in Aberystwyth. That was spooky as it came instantly from nowhere...

So, it looks like a bit of destiny is going on here. I'm supposed to be living in Wales and not here where I am now...

I know these dammed predictive text errors are enough to make you both laugh and cry

You're keeping the 'high ground' and not using the M4 Severn crossing Jim?
Nearly £6 to cross into Wales now but they let you out free so I guess it's £3 single!

Worth every penny :D I love that road...
