Inspired by earlier comments from Vince and Russ I have made a cut-and-paste image, literally, of my perfect XM, a S1 V624v in champagne (never an option), based on assorted bits from the ones I already have! Not up to the standards of Russ but hopefully you get the idea. Regards, Matthew T.

Very good Matthew. It works well.
I'm going to go a little bit further than that. I have one of my 1/18 scale XM models which really needs a repaint. It's a bit Chipped and my previous efforts of respraying it seemed to have failed unfortunatley. So I am going to repaint it in Ganache and turn it into a proper 24V. It's half way there already. so that is my new year project that doesn't really need doing!!!!

.

S2, white, exclusive spec, 24v or TCT, auto box, diamant velvet upholstery (with real suede instead of tissue paper alcantara) and half a dozen spare strut tops in the boot.

Interesting that we all want a different colour.

Think I'd go for a 3 litre Maserati Merak SS engine mated to an S1 V6 gearbox (assuming it turns the right way). 90 degree V6 that's shorter than a PRV. Proper engine. Makes 220hp on three Weber DCNFs, glorious sound, no electronics!

I like the sound of the Merak engine and it doesn´t seem out of keeping with the car. About the body-coloured scuttle and scuttle mouldings: not entirely convinced. The visual balance is upset, in my eyes. But - and this is important - it´s your ideal car! Thanks for showing it. My ideal car has dark green velour upholstery so I am not entirely able to throw many stones from inside my glass house; I suspect many would question my taste for electing to fit an XM with such a material.

For me, black, S1.5 with Hydractive 2 suspension, speedline wheels and the ES9 V6 with the 4HP20 gearbox.

And black leather inside...

In fact, virtually what mine is but with a different engine and gearbox..

If not black then either white, champagne or that gorgeous gold like yours casalingua :D

One upon a time I'd have said Mauritius Blue but I've had so many cars in that colour it really is time for a change...

I know what you mean Jim. Mauritius is a lovely colour blue, Our C5 is painted in it, but there are others I quite fancy. I could easily have a fleet of XM's painted in all the colours I like. Mandarin, Grey, White, Sable, Ganache, ect ect ect......
