Gs's are better than Cx's!
Mind, this is just at this exact moment in time and the mindset I'm in!
How I wish I'd bought a lime green Ro80 - I think it ended up being scrapped when I didn't save it
but the seller was so damned difficult to locate and there was a chance the engine wasn't working...
and how about an original Fiat500? Again, just to look at but fun to drive and they did do an Arbarth
version. Gordon Murray has one and he knows his cars and has a few quid!

Ah yes, had one of them, my very first car. It had automatic windows; you got in ,slammed the door and both door windows fell down! I was hooked, you can see how I graduated to an XM!andmcit wrote:and how about an original Fiat500?

Re: Which is your favorite car?
Well Andrew, Ive riden a couple of CX's now.. Ive riden a CX GTi auto, and was VERY impressed! And yes a Mates, infact, I bought his XM 24v S1 from him, but yes, a CX 25 GTi Turbo 2 Prestege ... and before you shout, yes really, its a South Of France Car.. improted, and converted to RHD.. its absolutly lovly.. the experiance was great.. I specifically LOVE the low down "In The Car" seating, were you can SEE ALL the bonnet.. he didn't show its real performance, dont think he wantedto leave all the other cars in the CXM convoy behind..andmcit wrote:What may alter things then Paul is a Cx! You've driven one already right or just been a passenger in a mate's?
Andrew

I would Really love a DTR T2, with a T1 block, but if a 22 TRS means easyer, then so be it, I can always gas it I guess!

OK then. Don't know what jonereed is doing now, the poster who started this, but what does it matter anyhow. I'll give a little twist to this topic by posting pictures of my favorites - actually cars I've owned. And loved. I bet you don't know what they are
Here is the first one, while I' m trying to find the others . . .

I could not find my own pictures, so here are some from the net. It's the exact same model I drove before buying my first CX.

Ah yes Jan, you've taxed our car knowledge before with these and I'm damned if I know what Mazda etc these are.
The silver coupe looks like a Fiat Dino!?

Hi Jan,
Isuzu 117?
I like it. It's unusually nice looking for a 1970's Japanese car.
Not sure about the alloy wheels though (at first glance it looks like the brake discs are on the outside
)
I haven't a clue what the first one is though.......I don't even recognise the badge on the front
Edit:
Got it. Or rather, Andrew got it. Mazda right? Old Mazda badge.
Judging by the shape of the badge (three sided) I'd guess it's a rotary.
In fact, I think you mentioned a while back that you used to have a Mazda Rotary (after I commented that I'm a bit of a fan of rotaries
).
Paul.
ps.....BTW, on the subject of favourite cars, it would have to be an Aston. So I guess I'd have to go for the most exclusive one, the Bulldog.
But I'd happily make do with a V8 Vantage

Re: Which is your favorite car?
Aha! The silver coupe is a C1980 Isuzu 117 Coupe:

With the 117 Coupe, Isuzu carried on with their practice of looking to Europe to nfluence their cars, this time using the Italian styling house GIUGIARO to design their car for them, so you get Japanese reliability with Italian flair.
It looks quite smart to be fair - better than many things languishing on the streets of
blighty at the time. Right, t'other one, Google here we come...

Re: Which is your favorite car?
I'm not saying its my favorite car as I didn't quite manage to buy it, but I did have a drive of it and I can not really remember much about it's performance etc. as I only drove it for approx. 15 to 20 minutes, all I can remember that it was Red and RHD !
The car was a Fiat Coupe 125/B SPECIAL VIGNALE "SAMANTHA" and here's a picture :-

The reason I did-not buy it was, as the legal owner flited in and out of the country and I never actually managed to get in contact with him, as it was a mechanic who had custody of the car who was owing monies for the repair's to the car, who told me he had the permission (From the owner)to sell the car to cover the repair costs as he no longer wanted it and therefore could sell it on his behalf, IIRC it was offered to me for only £275 (This was in approx. 1974) but as the mechanic could not come up with the car's logbook I renegade on the deal !
So was this a bad decision ? as I felt at the time I could not trust the mechanic's word that he'd get the Logbook from the owner when he was back in the country again (IIRC owner was a Ski-Lankan or Indian)
Here's a LINK to one that was advertised in June 29th, 2007 for £20,000 and is still being advertised, I wonder if its still available ? but the trouble is I've I haven't a spare £20K, but I could just about srape up £275 now
here's a LINK to another one and another that SOLD for £5,390 in an auction on 25th June 2009.
So in the end I waited a few more year's when I was 21years of age and bought my first (As I've had two of them) a Triumph stag which was only 3 years old back in 1977

Re: Which is your favorite car?
Some excellent guess work here! Yes, the photo was posted on the old forum under 'Cars That Time Forgot'.
The Mazda is an R100, but domestically known as the Mazda Familia Presto Rotary Coupe. My car was a 1971 model. Mazda won quite a few races with this little machine. I can tell you it was a thrill to drive. Here is another photo.
