ive driven a couple of the early mechanical ignition 2.0's that did this, a bit of a stutter pulling away from idle, changed plugs, dizzy, rotor etc etc with no change and just came to the conclusion it was normal, you have just confirmed it is
the bosch management fitted to later cars or the different a/c compessor stopped it i guess..........
