I went from 2cv 6 club (still have it, 25 years now!) to GSA, via GS to BX, to Saab 900 which was driven off the road so then this Xantia, which broke down so I bought this other Xantia, which broke down as well, so I repaired the first Xantia and that's now still going but then someone insisted to get rid of my van ( a Ford Transit LWB) and fix up a famous RHD 2cv which I did but abandoned in the garage for a blue low mileage 2.0 16v XM which I accidentally found on the net, looking for a Xantia HDI and then I apparently mentioned something about my too muched used Xantia who came along with this unreal nice blue diesel XM so now I got too many cars :) Did I mention the CX turbo I got for my birthday just for the fun of it?? :) ( forgot about a few unmentionable cars, long forgotten)

A lot of posts for this topic, but it's the free-for-all, so let's have fun :) The BX was a great car and for me it took over from 2 CX models I drove for not so long. The first BX was a 1987 19TRS bought from new, which I drove for about 5 years. Almost trouble free except a hard front suspension problem which was caused by a distorted front strut - probably hit a pothole. Replaced the strut with a used one. The second one was a used 1990 8-valve 19GTi auto with only 16000 km which was more fun to drive. More composed at speed. The rear sus was a little stiff, but I fixed that by drilling the damper orifices. If I had the space I would buy one again - they can be had for peanuts here, and typical for JP used cars with real low mileage.

Even a £1,999 start is way OTT even for two of them..

Still the Q and A section was good for a giggle...
Jim at one time the Guy/E-bay seller (But Guy is his actual name too) at one point had the basic 14 (without the rear wiper) up for sale @ £29,995  god know what Bull$hite Tim may have fed him

For the full story its best to read thro' the whole thread on the BXC forum, I'm sure it will provide you with some laughs !

Hi Nigel I did notice the BX DTR Turbo on E-BAY but I can't seem to see a spotted/discussion on the BXC FORUM for the one you've just bought ! But do get your self signed up on there you'll be made very welcome (I'm RxBX on there) ;)

It looks okay on the O/S but your going to need some good body panel skills to sought out the N/S/Rear 'C' panel, but if you go to the Imperial Crash Repair Website DIRECT they do sell the lower arch section which works out cheaper than purchased from them via E-BAY if it maybe of help ?

Good luck with your new purchase !

Thanks XMX some useful info there, I still haven't had a chance to go over the car properly in the cold light of day, it arrived in Wales yesterday evening. I won't be there til Tuesday. First thing to do is sort the suspected air leak on the fuel filter housing and try the car out. Last cambelt change is unknown so may get that done quickly first.

I did spot that overpriced BX14 before I bought this one, in fact it's sort of what led me to the listing for mine. I did chuckle, still can't work out if the guy is mad or if it's all a bit tongue in cheek. Will report back in the week after I've inspected the car and will certainly join the BX forum.

citroenxm wrote:Yea i might have one... the other thing you could do is upgrade the thermostat house to a xantia type with the fuel filter on it.. SOOOOOOOOOOO much easyer to service then.. The last K reg txd models had then cant see why the turbo cant...

ah yur only down the road from me! does yur mum want to rent a barn out for storage??
Do you mean the thermostat housing found on the engine block, like in ZX's and pug 306's? If so I have a spare one including aluminium block somewhere but can you retro fit them onto a XUD 1.7?

The fuel pump on the BX is a Lucas, as I'd hoped to run it on veg I plan to change it for a Bosch, bought this on ebay today for the bargain price of 99p:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-CITRO ... true&rt=nc

but still need to find injectors, pipes and a Bosch bracket. Don't suppose you have any suitable ones laying around? Whereabouts in Wales are you, could be interested in that fuel filter housing if you do have one spare....I'll be coming up in my XM 2.5TD estate.

As for the barns, she has several! However she's a bit a mad hoarder and no sooner than we empty them she fills them again with crap. I remember taking a bunch of stuff down to the car boot sale for her and she was the main customer on the bloody stall! However last time I was up there the steel barn was empty, if that's still the case I plan to stick the BX in there for the winter, I could ask if she's interested in renting one out if you like. It's up in the hills behind Abergele.

I PERONALLY live just up the road from abergele in Penmaenmawr, right on the edge of the A55..

I say personally, because the hoard of parts etc are an hour away over at North Anglesey, near Wylfa.

Bring it over, we can have a look over it.. As I put above Ive had manay a BX in the past...

Ive got everything.. Bosch Pipes from Xantias, Bosch Pumps, Bosch Injectors..

Im not sure if a Xantia Bosch Pump would work on a BX, I cant see why not at all..
The BX Bosch pump looked very simmilar to the XM Bosch 2.1 Pumps with a water stat advance on the front.. Ill just go and have a look at the one you have bought

But we have thermostat houses, pipes injectors and so on...

The Heads water outlet where the thermostat house sits is identical on all heads... so I cant see a problem trying at least...

I'll send you a PM with my email address and my mobile number, may well call in on you in either the XM or the BX (if I can sort out the problem enough to get it to run)

Went to the scrapyard today and got the injector pipes but couldn't for the life of me get the injectors off the 1.9TD XUD engine! I've got a Bosch pump on it's way, so what does that leave, I'll need the bracket as the Lucas one is different I believe. I've been told that I may need a woodruff key too?
