The Japanese here would distinguish them by the 'marume' (round eyes) and the 'kakume' (square eyes)I like the first silver one, the Quad square lamps look better then the early round ones...

I like both, each representing an era with lots of memories to me.

You're right. Fantastic designer, and a truck maker managed to turn this design into a product, initially hand built, into a very popular sports car, which was abruptly abandoned by the buying public in the late 70s because they wanted 'family cars' and independent suspension on 4 wheels. No more stiff rear axle. The front had double wishbones; I liked that. And you could get adjustable shock absorbers - I had those too. But I let the dust settle on the car for months in a dark corner when I bought my first CX. The guy who eventually bought it was impressed by its acceleration through the gears and its handling. No wonder its styleish... it was styled by Italian house... Giorgetto Giugiaro
The model that made it to the Netherlands (the green one) surprised the inspector. He thought it handled like a Lotus!

Very interesting cars there Jan. I can see the Ital Design influence. There is a little whiff of FIAT in there.
I like the Toyota 2000GT Coupe. Nothing to do with James Bond of course.

Re: Interesting XM review / test
Aside from the multitude of Japanese cars I've owned here, Mazda, Honda, Toyota, Isuzu, Subaru, Suzuki, all with RHD, of course, the Citroens, CX(2), DS, Traction, BX(2), XM(2), all were LHD. The Traction and DS were imported by myself from Europe, the others bought here in Japan. Most of the cars Seibu, the official importer, imported were LHD, and the ones I happened to like were LHD. All together I've driven LHD Cits for more than 20 years here now and gotten used to it. Local roads can be very narrow and a LHD vehicle, like the old mail trucks in Switzerland, has its advantages in negotiating these roads, driving close to the edge.If your in Japan, Jan, why is Your XM LHD... Japan is RHD the same as us are they not?

Re: Interesting XM review / test
I'm sure these are none standard spheres, but the spec for early series 1 cars is 0.7mm for lower power versions, 0.6mm for V6 and 2.1TD according to the literature I have.robertmnorton wrote:Hi Dman,Drilling the front corner spheres to 0.7mm
i thought standard front spheres were 0.8mm, p/n 96 222 867, with the exception of the V6 which are 0.7mm , p/n 96 290 048 ? This as listed in the cit mechs handbook. Did you have non standard spheres fitted ?
These were definitely 0.6mm holes.
I need to check the ones on the other car as that definitely rides softer.

Re: Interesting XM review / test
Hi Dman, i found the data for S1 spheres and it seems HA2 evolution increased both axle sphere damper orifices. along with a couple of variations in pressure and volume. I find this odd as functionally both systems are the same. I see also that the majority of spheres are still available from citroen.

What data do you have for these Robert, I would be interested in any information you do have, for all spheres.

Hi Dman, the S1 specs are in ch9, p4 of doc 430-00/1. The S2 specs are on p268 of the cit mechs handbook 050008, book 2. The files are too large to upload here, but i think you may already have them.
