760 GLE salon is the daddy for me! I like the S80. The 60 is a nicer car to look at.

I had the first 440 sold locally. Couldn't run to a Turbo so it had to be the GLT. I had a drive of the Turbo and it was ok, but not wildy fast and my God the GLT was unreliable.

I did find that the 440 T was not rapid.. it was only 125bhp in a heavy body.

It was increadibly comfy to be sat in though that I DO remember

I suspect that was a facelift car. Early ones were quite striking.

Good looking cars for the time. I remember a neighbour had a bog spec one..had he same 1.7 engine as my parents Renault 21.

Thats because like the 340 and 360 before it they were useing renaults 1.4 and 1.7 engines (1.4 dropped for the 440) and their own 2.0 ( not untill 440 series two) .. the 440 was 1.7 (1721cc) engine only untill s2 then the 2.0 volvo engine was added and also renaults 1870cc diesel engine was added too in s2
