I just saw your reply after all this time Charles.
It's truly amazing the support that's still available for certain marques (the old Mercs seem to be the same), I think we can only dream of that kind of situation with Citroen, who seem to attempt to erase every model from history with pride 10 years after manufactuing stops.
I've always loved the big Vics, maybe one day....

Re: Petition to PSA against dropping hydropneumatic suspensi
For PSA/Citroen, any recent-ish out-of-production model is just about as relevant as a 35mm SLR in a world of digital cameras. For the owners of these older vehicles (and they tend to be older owners), they represent something else: devices that they understand (as opposed to ones they don't) and can work on. Present them with something very new, let alone a modern hybrid, or an all-electric, and it's out of comfort zone, or requires such specialist knowledge and diagnostic tools as to make d.i.y. maintenance virtually impossible.
Personally, I can tune a pair (or three) SU's with my eyes closed, but how relevant is that these days? And is that of any interest to LR-Tata, or the remains of the British motor industry?
Industry is full of hard-working folk who are there to make money out of their current product range. Anything else is a distraction, or, at best, worth something (maybe) in terms of "marketing heritage". Mostly it's just left to Fred in a Shed to keep discontinued products operational, and Freds in Sheds is - in the main - who we probably are.
I keep smiling, though, as I swish past some current PSA offerings, whose owners can only dream about the comfort we (mainly) enjoy on a daily basis.
