Most of the suggested conversions for Peter are a lot of work.
Pending the finding the elusive £50 perfect 2.1 there is a simple solution.
A Silver 2.5 Estate with the accelerator pedal fixed so it only runs on tickover.
Clutch would be lighter than any 2.1 and fuel economy will be virtually as good.
No need to worry about a short life engine so regularly throw in a bit of Veg oil to keep the costs down.
If and when it breaks is the time to decide on conversion.

You're tempting me John, although a little bit of throttle would be permissable, I am prepared to go a tad over £50.00 now seeing that they are so scarce :D
