Yes I chased that problem for a long time. Hot weather, hit a traffic queue and it would run rough and cut out, then bonnet up to cool down for 20 mins and off we go again. Turned out to be the HT leads. The price of proper SM ones are ridiculous, for no good reason. So I bought a set for an early V8 Range Rover which were cheap and fitted them, problem solved!
If engine is hot and weather is hot and you park up and leave it for 10mins, then fuel boil off does cause issues. Solution is when you crank it over press the throttle to the floor, completely to the floor, and keep it there then crank - starts hot every time that way. Pedal must be on the floor, butterflies wide open.
Other heat issues are old coils, ballast resistors and poor LT wires. If you've got Lumenition ignition fitted then that can play up with one bank cutting out because the sodding electronics in it get too hot - mine used to do that and if I kept it running on 3 cylinders as soon as the car got moving it would cool down and all six cut in then off we go! If you've got points it should run fine in very hot or very cold weather - a lot to be said for having no electronics!
Cheers
