Re: How many left?
Hopefully might sort the incredibly rich running too - it almost squirts petrol out of the exhaust!

Re: How many left?
Charles, mine's a carb car, idles around 900rpm. I've replaced the throttle cable in the past which might help, but afraid I dont know anything about D Jetronic system on DS or SM. My advice would be to join the Sports-Maserati list in Yahoo groups, very good bunch of SM guys there.
Cheers

Re: How many left?
I don't have a Citroen with D-jetronic, but I do have a 1975 Jaguar XJ-S V12 with D-jet (with Lucas stickers on all the Bosch parts!). On a D-jetronic, high idle is only caused by too much air getting into the engine, either butterflies adjusted wrongly, idle compensator (if fitted) seized, or air leaks.
Hard starting when hot is a different problem. There is probably a wire from the starter solenoid circuit to the ECU to provide extra fuel when starting. On some Jags, there is too much enrichment and the engine starts better if that is disconnected from the solenoid and permanently shorted to ground (leaving it open causes permanent enrichment).
There is probably also a cold start enrichment (with cold start injectors) which should not operate when the engine is hot, but will wrongly operate if the thermal sensor is faulty.

Four of the last? All roadworthy too - at least they were when parked.

You have to assume that the vast majority of those left on the road are in, at the least, roadworthy condition. You have to hope that a large amount are in the hands of folk who give a damn about their welfare.
As for those on SORN the reality is that the majority will probably never see the open road again.

Re: How many left?
I just checked the figures for S1 V6 and apparently there is only one other 24v currently on the road and just one 12v, although several of both models on SORN! Regards, Matthew T.

Re: How many left?
Mine's 1 for a start.
Been busy reading the forum since joining, and will no doubt start asking questions soon. This thread has been particularly interesting. Taken as an individual model, my XM is probably one of the more common Citroens I own, as examples of most of the others in my collection can be counted on one hand.
Although many cars that have been on SORN will probably end up as parts cars or scrap, it doesn't mean there'll not be cars returned to the road. In the last 6 years since buying my GS, the number or survivors on DVLA's records have actually gone up, partly due to imports but also due to cars that have been off the road since before SORN. This will eventually start to happen with the XM - if I hadn't bought mine locally, I was actually looking into finding a model in France that wasn't sold over here to bring back.
I can also see the sought after models changing. As less XMs are used regularly, I can see the popularity of diesels and estates dropping off in favour of more powerful and better spec hatches - friends of mine into CX's have already seen something similar, with the popularity of DTR Turbo Safari's dropping off drastically over the last few years, while the already popular Pallas and GTi models are getting ever more sought after.
