A thought. As the auto selector levers for rhd cars fall apart and aren't available yet is there a real harm fitting the lh drive lever...

You could press the release button in with the side of your palm below your little finger and pull down.. I nice decent car shouls have you a very light lever to move with little effort..

Worth a thought for a decent looking interior. You could even grasp theever with index and wddding finger and pull down..

I think Ill have to go this route by the time I get my Xm ready to go..

Discuss / thoughts. Though I guess it will only be me Will and Chris who will discuss.. 😂😂😂😂

Don't forget we only got RHD autos in Australia, and ALL of us need new auto T-bars! I've taped my pieces together for the moment (squirted some silicon into the gaps first). Perfectly functional, but as you say, not exactly "decent looking". Not ready to try a LHD one though...

If there was a factory/workshop that could be persuaded to produce a small batch of new or reconditioned RHD auto levers, I reckon I could sign up 5-10 orders pretty quickly!

Cheers

Alec

UK we're rhd too.. But a tidy lhd lever in a rhd car will look better then a tatty or taped up rhd one..

They should of done what Renault did in the R25. The release button was under the front centre of the lever so you used your fire fingers to release and was lh and rh drove comparable without conversion..

Don't forget this lot, who seem to offer both LHD and RHD auto T-handles

Well at 25 euro for leather lever there is therefore. No point to my conversation.. That's an increadably decent price for one..

Still seems pretty unsatisfactory, in that my car would be off the road for however long it took to mail the gear lever to them, wait for them to get around to doing the job, then mail it back to me, which I imagine could fairly easily run to a couple of months.

Different if I had a spare lever to send away of course.

You dont. You just keep yours and buy one from them.. I don't think they refurb your own.. Or do I understand it wrong..

Here's a quote from the detail of the only auto shifter for XM/605/ZX that I can find listed:

"Product details
Exchange only!
We send You back your cracked shifter with leather cover. Shipping 15 euro (Europe)
If some shape elements are missing: 50 Euro

Shipment Procedure:
1. Send us the photo of your shifter.
2. You will receive info: how much it will cost and where to send it. Normally shifter renovation costs 25 euro. If some part of the shifter is missing, than it cost 50 euro.
3. You send Your shifter on the adresse given by us in the message.
4. You pay on our paypal or bank account (revolut).
5. We send You shifter as soon as we receive Yours."

It says "Exchange", but also says they "send you back your ... shifter". Certainly would be quicker as an exchange than waiting for my own unit to be refurbed...

Actually - is the shift lever for the 4HP20 the same as for the 4HP18? If it will fit either, why don't they mention Xantia and 406, which both got the 4HP20 box?

In the xm yes it kept the same shifter for both HP 18 and 20

The xantia and 406 changed when the V6 came along in 1997 and phase 2 xantia also changed. To the gated lever with brake pedal release..

Only xantia with hp4 18 and petrol engines and non turbo diesel engines used the XM shifter.

Member LWdjo had a lever from Q&K and it wasn't his lever returned, they sent him a Lhd lever, but exchanged is promptly on being notified.

Fow members in autrailia, just find a local leather workshop to make a sock for yours. Glue the plastic back together and fit the cover.
