Gear position lighting

Are the switches/gear position indicator numbers down by the gear shift supposed to illuminate when the side/headlights are turned on? I'm wondering if some bulbs aren't working as nothing lights up on my car. Thanks!

No, they are just a printed set of markings to indicate the position of each selection.
The actual gear selection indicator is in the dashboard instruments cluster.
All actual switches in the Xm cabin are back lit, with cat eye illumination.
