HDi in the house.
Oh well ---
youngest son and heir has finally bitten the bullet and acquired a 2.0 HDi Pug 307. Very clean, very tidy -- but they seem to have forgotten to fit any suspension. You really do forget just how nice the XM is until you get back in an ordinary car. Mind -- to my way of thinking, this 307 has actually got harder springing than my Land Rover. It's even got bigger wheels than the XM --- how can this be for a matchbox size motor ???!!!

Hi Mike
No doubt it has low profile tyres too, that's what makes them ride hard - daft I call it.

Hi Mike, has the suspension been lowered or tweaked in any way ? my wifes's petrol 307sw rides really nicely so far as I'm concerned and is very comfortable even on the rough country roads that we have to use and especially over long distances, it's not fitted with ultra low profile tyres either altogether I'm very impressed with the pug and am very seriously considering getting a diesel version for myself.

Hi Colin, Peter
Coincidentally this is an SW too. Doesn't look like it's been tinkered with but it has got OE 16" alloys with 55 tyres. I suppose it's possible different markets get different suspension set ups ? One bonus (although don't think son sees it this way) is that because it's the weediest 2.0 (90 bhp) it doesn't have one of these b****y stupid fap filters, whereas the higher output units do.

All that glitters isn't gold... Couldn't wait to get the 45 profile tyres off the XM, TOTALLY transformed the ride and handling.onthecut wrote:it has got OE 16" alloys with 55 tyres.

Ah what it's like to be young, I can just about remember my motoring wants and desires.

Re: HDi in the house.
I fitted a brand new Perkins 4/99 diesel into my Vauxhall Cresta in 1960 when I was 21 - how's that for ecentricity?
