Another head gasket gone...

This time it's on my wife's pug 307, the whiff of antifreeze turns out to be coolant weeping from behind the exhaust manifold, I hoped against hope that it was just a leeky core plug but after removing the manifold no such joy. "luckily" there's no water in the oil and no sign of it being burned in the combustion chambers - also, there's LOADS more room around this engine than when I did my 2.1td - still a bugger though

That's it, moan over - I feel much better for sharing it with folk that understand the implications for my painful and weary back instead of Mrs.P who can't fathom why I have to "mess" and "how long will it take to fix" and HOW MUCH WILL IT COST !! ?

Colin, You may have fun, when I replaced the head gasket on my daughters 205Pug, 50% of the head bolts stripped the threads out of the block as I undid them! I also found a useful guide on a Pug forum that warned that if you tried to tighten the head bolts to the manufactures spec, you would almost certainly strip the threads again! 1.4 TU engine.
