... today is MoT day so did I buy a pup or a well-sorted low mileage XM?

Since I've bought it, it has been treated to two new tyres on the front (Toyo CF1s), full new suspension spheres, windscreen wiper jets unblocked, plus a service!

Checked it over yesterday, and when swapping tyres had a good look at the front brakes and there's plenty meat there on pads and discs. It doesn't pull to one side, stops on a sixpence and everything works - it'll be interesting to see how it gets on.

it was a pass - one slight hydraulic leak at the accumulator which he's fixed! No advisories.
So my £600 was well spent by the look of it.
