Met another XM this evening

Off topic chat about anything you like. Doesn't have to be about XMs (though they will inevitibly come up!). You can even discuss non-Citroens :o in here!

Met another XM this evening

Post by XMV6 sadist » Fri May 22, 2009 12:51 pm

Hi all

Just coming back from a cycle race last night and pulled into a petrol station at the north end of Mersham on the A23. I filled up the car and was surpised to come out to find another black XM parked next to mine. The owner of the other XM was looking at my car and saying that it was the first other black one he's seen. His was a very tidy looking R reg 2.1td - anyone here? Needless to say that he'd never seen a 24v XM. Spent a very pleasant 10mins chatting to him about XMs. I guess that they are becoming somewhat rare and a "noticeable" car.

Cheers

Tony

I think they've always been a noticeable car Tony, although the S2 is less so with its Xantia nose :(

Funny thing, just 10 minutes ago when I was driving home I unexpectedly saw my father
driving the silver W plater Xm 2.1 t'other way!! 8-)

He knew it was me in the Xantia as I'd just reached optimum velocity on the open moor road
and he did flash me before I clocked it was him!!

It certainly looked totally different to everything else I've seen all along the journey - I don't
usually see any of my cars BEING DRIVEN as I'm always in them! It looked surprisingly sharp and
purposeful but of course I'm biased! That said, it didn't look like a Xantia mind and whilst I must
confess to rather liking Xantiae (I have a few!) I think the s1 Xantia is better to look at so I'm
bound to lean towards a s1 Xm as far as looks goes too!!

Actually, these days, it'd just be very nice to see ANY unusual Citroen going the other way as
even Xantiae are thinning out, let alone BX's and Cx's although I saw an orange X reg 2CV
lunchtime which was nice!! Should really get my 1960 one up and running really as today's did
turn a few heads and was a refreshing change to all the drug dealer/pimp mobile 4x4's, usual
German über machines and Coroner's van lookalike people carriers...

Quite a few Xantia's down here, but the only other XMs I see are my wife and daughter in law, very occaisionally a stray XM wanders into our space but probably only a couple of times a year.

That's when it get's pulled into the Citroen black hole that is otherwise known as Higher Spence? ;)
My mates reckon that it's usually only a matter of time for any Xm or Cx in South Wales to be drawn
in to the Andmcit black hole too!

2 XMs within a couple of miles of my house and I didn't see them... I have seen an XM driving round Merstham a couple of times recently - not black though.

I heard reports last night of a grey S1 V6 in Belfast, which I haven't seen in 5 years, and thought was long gone, but its still on the go it seems :D
