Goddammit, I should know this! I'm certain it's the M series not the BE3 but the
local dealer has put an element of doubt about this in my mind when I'm ordering
a CV gaiter kit - nobody anwhere can get the right (large) sized gaiter for the outer
CV joint.

I'm sat outside the dealer now wanting to order it! Help!!

I'm still convinced it's an ME-5T box (on something like that as I can't check in the office)
but itd be no use to me anyway as the CV gaitor is on back order and not due for delivery
until 12 July...

what really, for a poxy Cv gaitor!!!???? Why can nobody sell me the right part!? :x

I bought and fitted a new CV gaitor from EuroCarParts on my '88 CX GTi T2 and had
absolutely no problems whatsoever and the Xm here is supposed to be a whole new
generation younger and no part can be bought to fit and fix the car!!

Dear me...

I had trouble at the motor factors getting a suitable inner boot to use on the SD, the one they ordered fo rme was too small. I ended up using a universal boot, and it fitted nicely.

Andrew

I have a recollection that during the early Mk2 production Citroen changed the outer end of the long drive shaft from small diameter solid tube to large diameter hollow tube. If so this plays havoc with gaiter size but is not gearbox specific.

Hi Andrew
I'm losing the plot - is it gaiter or gaitor!?
gaiter = drive shaft flexible rubber boot or gentleman's leg accoutrement

'gator = creatures in Florida that have a nasty bite

gaitor = ?? or is it the Americanised spelling of gaiter

Hi Andrew, probably too late but, spec sheet shows RGX engine with only ME/5 or HP18 g/boxes.As such the same driveshafts are used and therfore gaiter. This correlates with citroen service website.

Thanks Robert, that means it WILL take glacial speed to get to me - I've had to resort
to a universal gaiter as suggested by Robert earlier.

It's starting to look bad if relatively ordinary service items can't be obtained from the dealer
or the factors and 'usual suspects'. :(

I'm trying to order a hydraulic pipe for a series 2 v6 XM as one on the new XM has a weep on it.

Went in to order it, attempted to pick it out on the part catalogue, sorry sir, that's no longer available.

Tried the same thing for several pipes in that area and non of them are available from Citroen!

I think it's disgraceful that something as simple as pipework isn't available at the dealer. I spoke to Plaedies too, it's not available from them either.

Hey ho!

Apparently rules have changed which means that manufacturers can stop making parts for cars as soon as they go out of production whereas in the past by law they had to make them for 10 years.
